A recall of 571 Western Star Trucks across 4700, 4800, 4900, 5800 and 6900 series models has been initiated after a possible electrical issue was identified.
The recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and involves trucks sold in Australia between the 12th of September 2016 and the 6th of February 2018.

The recall notice advises that on certain vehicles, the power cable stud with an attached gasket seal may not protrude through the bulkhead adequately.
What are the hazards?
If improperly installed, the power cable stud may contact the bulkhead, resulting in electrical arcing, increasing the risk of a fire.
What should consumers do?
Parts will be available from early December 2018. Affected consumers/lessees can contact their authorised Western Star Trucks dealer/leasor and quote campaign number FL766.
Consumers should take their vehicle for inspection (and repair if applicable). The inspection and repair will be free of charge.
