The champagne corks have popped at Volvo Group headquarters after Mack Trucks delivered a milestone vehicle to one of the brand’s most enthusiastic customers.
The customer? Construction material supply giants, Hanson.
The milestone? Hanson’s 1,000th Mack truck.
The milestone vehicle was the Trident AF with a four-axle dog trailer seen above.
The unit will be put to work at Hanson’s Wolffdene quarry, south of Brisbane.
It’s taken 35 years to reach the milestone, however Hanson General Manager of Logistics, Scott Tipping, says it’s been a great relationship with the truck manufacturer.
“One of the key reasons Hanson chooses Mack is because they build their trucks locally in Australia, which gives us the ability to customise the trucks for our different needs,”
“Another big reason is the safety pack. Our trucks spend a significant amount of time on Australia’s highways, so collision mitigation technology is an added level of safety we are able to provide our drivers and road users.”
Vice President of Mack Trucks Australia, Dean Bestwick, was chuffed to see the 1,000th Mack leave the factory in Hanson’s famous colours.
“Over three and a half decades working together, Mack has a deep understanding of Hanson’s operations, their requirements to be tough enough for the quarries, achieve maximum payload and keep road users safe,”
“Our team is continuously working with Hanson to improve the trucks’ specs, to keep the drivers happy and deliver on what Hanson needs – which is a tough, reliable truck that gets the job done.”
And will Hanson be adding more Mack trucks to their fleet? Yes, the business has more Agitators and Truck and Dogs on order with full Safety Pack and these are due for delivery in coming months.
