There’s been a fair bit of moving around in recent times among the top-tier of management at a number of the different truck and bus brands operating in Australia.

The latest new appointment comes at Volvo Trucks with Volvo Group Australia (VGA) naming Tony O’Connell as the new Australian Vice President Sales at the Swedish brand.

Shifting from his current position as Vice President Aftersales and Services with Volvo Trucks, VGA President and CEO Martin Merrick says Tony brings a lot to the important role.

“Tony has a deep understanding of our customers gained through a variety of roles at the Group over the past 13 years,”

“He has led the development of Aftersales and Services through close partnership with our dealership network by delivering superior customer service.

“With a career grounded in grassroots customer work at dealership level, Tony brings deep insight and passion for the brand to the role.”

A part of the VGA team since 2005, Tony says he’s excited about taking up the new post.

“My role in Aftersales and Services has been focused on helping to resolve issues before they become problems, which means getting close to customers to understand their businesses and their priorities,”

“This has given me invaluable insight into what matters most to our customers, and I am looking forward to translating this into my new role leading Volvo Trucks Australia.”

The other brands to announce key personnel changes in recent times include Scania, Isuzu, Freightliner and Penske Power Systems.
