Growing Eurocargo fleet proving great asset for long-established business

Ryans Group has been hauling loads since the late 1950s and that means the Warrnambool business knows a thing or two about trucks.

Started by Frank Ryan, son Graham now holds the reins of the transport business with a number of key contracts on the books.

One of those is the responsibility of hauling Vinidex PVC pipe.

The trucks on that job for Ryans Group are the award-winning Iveco Eurocargo, in this application power comes from 280hp/950Nm Tector 6 engines.

Customised to haul pipes up to 12 metres in length, the transporter has operated a fleet of Eurocargos in Melbourne for a number of years.

Just recently another seven Iveco Eurocargo trucks joined the fleet to work out of Brisbane, also on the Vinidex contract.

“These longer pipes were previously delivered by semi-trailers which are more costly to operate and are also restricted accessing certain sites because of their size,” – Ryans Group Contract Manager, David Mammarella.

“Working with bodybuilder Austruck, we developed a solution for carrying these longer lengths and the feedback from Vinidex has been extremely positive.”

Ryans Group Manager, David Howell tells us the Iveco fleet has been super-impressive.

“Our Melbourne-based Eurocargo trucks are showing between 250,000 and 500,000 kilometres after four years’ work and have been very reliable,”

“Based on this, their very high fuel efficiency and positive driver feedback, it was a logical decision to again go with Eurocargo models.

“The drivers really appreciate the comfortable cabin, driver appointments and safety features.”

And the Eurocargo’s low chassis height has also been a help for Ryans Group.

“The Eurocargo has the lowest chassis height available in the segment, which makes it easier and safer to unload the goods.”
