Lightning Systems have taken the covers off their latest electric-drive commercial vehicle with a Ford E-450 based vehicle about to come to market in the U.S.
The new offering will be offered in both shuttle bus and cutaway variants and comes just weeks after the Colorado-based business took the covers off a battery-powered version of the Isuzu F-Series/Chevrolet 6500XD.
The Ford E-450 offering will boast a 6.5 tonne GVM with peak power of 220kW (295hp) and an electric drive range of 177 kilometres.
Orders for the offering are now being taken and deliveries are expected to start before the end of the year.
A Ford new vehicle warranty covers everything except the Lightning Systems drivetrain on the new offering.
“We’ve become the only stop you have to make to get zero-emission vehicles for all of your fleet needs,” – Tim Reeser, CEO of Lightning Systems.
“This follows our strategy of electrifying popular high-quality platforms in the Class 3 to 8 segments.
“Fleets can get the job done around town or on the worksite, while saving fuel and meeting their sustainability and environmental goals.”
The new offering joins Lightning Systems existing low floor bus offering.
No word yet on Lightning Systems offering their vehicles/drivelines in Australia, however we will keep you updated as further info from the company comes to hand.
