The U.S. road transport industry is paying tribute to the nation’s hardworking truck drivers this week.

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week runs until Saturday with the American Trucking Associations event looking to give U.S. truck drivers a pat on the back for their big contribution to the country.

The organisation saying truck drivers in the U.S. drive a collective 4.5 billion miles each to deliver consumer goods and life’s essentials, like food, fuel, clothing and medicine.

Volvo Trucks North America is right behind the event.

The big-selling brand has even produced this special tribute video to American truck drivers:

“Professional truck drivers play a crucial role in almost every aspect of our daily lives, safely transporting the food, fuel, and consumer goods that sustain us and make life comfortable,” – Peter Voorhoeve, president of Volvo Trucks North America.

“I would like to see a greater appreciation of the truck driver profession because they have a vast effect on North America’s economic strength.

“As a truck OEM we are committed to actively contributing to help improve the perception throughout society.”
