MAN Truck & Bus has introduced a new 500hp Euro 6 (c) engine to its three-axle coach chassis range.
Known as the RR4 CO 26.500, the Euro 6 compliant 12.4 litre engine produces 2,500Nm of torque from as low as just 930rpm.
Penske Commercial Vehicles tell us the engine oil drain interval is a remarkable 140,000km or 18-months.
Already in action in a new coach in the Cooma Coaches fleet, Clint Stoermer, the national sales and service manager of bus at Penske Commercial Vehicles, says the engine/chassis combines power with efficiency.
“Combined with its 12-speed Tipmatic transmission and MAN’s hypoid axle, the drive provides more than enough power for any application including, in the case of Cooma Coaches, the ski fields of NSW.
“Not only more powerful, the Euro 6 engine is also expected to provide a fuel consumption saving compared to its predecessor.”
While the MAN chassis also comes fitted with an electronic braking system (EBS) and electronic stability program (ESP) including roll over protection (ROP).
Adaptive cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring, lane guard departure warning, and emergency brake assist are also all offered as standard.
“This chassis meets all the requirements that our coach customers demand: performance, efficiency, low whole-of-life costs, and maximum safety.”
