Another 20% jump in new truck sales in Australia

The new truck sales boom has continued in May 2018 with data showing another 20% increase in local sales.

The VFACTS data released this afternoon shows that in May truck dealerships handed over 3,913 new heavy vehicles in the month, a 20.9% improvement on the same month in 2017.

Year to date, 15,538 new vehicles have been sold, a 20.3% improvement in the 12,913 delivered to customers in the same five month period last year.

Light-duty sales accounted for 1,838 of the sales (+16.0%), medium-duty was up 14.2% with 747 sales, and 1,328 heavy-duty sales lifted that segment 32.9% above the same month last year.

In May, Isuzu was again the sales star.

The Japanese brand topping the market with 905 sales grabbing better than a 23% market share.

Other brands to enjoy a particularly successful month included Fuso, Hino, Iveco, Kenworth, MAN and Volvo.
