The race towards electrification in Europe continues with DAF the latest major player making a big commitment to battery-powered trucks.
And it will all happen sooner rather than later with the first batch of up to 40-tonne DAF CF Electric Trucks being handed over for customer trials in late 2018.
DAF Trucks has teamed up with electrical systems supplier VDL on the electric model, the trucks featuring VDL E-Power Technology that will deliver an electric drive range of around 100km.

DAF CF Electric Key Data:
- 4×2 prime-mover weighing 9.7 tonnes
- Developed for up to 40-tonne distribution applications
- Up to 100km electric drive range
- Electric motor produces 210kW/2000Nm
- Quick recharge in 0.5 hours
- Full recharge in 1.5 hours
While VDL Group president, Willem van der Leegte, welcomed the partnership with DAF.
