Electric-drive Volvo refuse truck on the job in Gothenburg

Just days after Volvo confirmed it would be pushing ahead with a production version, the first FL Electric truck has just got to work in Sweden.

Sales and series production of the new model will start in Europe next year and Volvo Trucks in Australia say they are watching developments with great interest.

The new offering boasts a 185kW electric motor with up to 425Nm of torque and a drive range up to 300 kilometres.

Volvo saying the electric truck is ideal for applications such as refuse collection and urban distribution with the truck able to glide silently around city streets.

The electric Volvo refuse truck that is now on duty in Gothenburg is a pre-production model that will help the manufacturer fine-tune the new offering ahead of series production commencing in 2019.
