Don’t head down to your local Australian Hino dealership looking to get a test drive…Hino’s new XL Series range is (at this stage at least) just for North America.
Unveiled this morning in the U.S., the new Hino XL Series will be offered in both rigid (XL7) and prime-mover (XL8) configurations and power comes exclusively from Hino’s 360hp/1560Nm 8.9 litre straight-six A09 engine.
The new Hino offerings boast up to 27 tonne GVM and 30 tonne GCM and safety features such as stability control and collision mitigation will come as standard.
The XL Series will also come with an air-ride cab and driver’s seat, hands-free Bluetooth audio/calling, steering wheel controls, LED headlights, cruise control, and air conditioning.
Set to enter production in the U.S. early next year, Hino Trucks North America President and CEO, Yoshinori Noguchi, is expecting big things from the new trucks.
“Considering our remarkable success in Class 4-7 in North America, and our growing global presence in the Class 8 market, entering the North American heavy-duty segment makes for the next logical step.
“Not to mention our customers and our dealer network have been asking for this for some time.”
We’ll keep you updated with further details on the Hino XL7/XL8 and keep an eye on any changes regarding possible Australia availability.
