Showing the vehicles unquestioned versatility, an Iveco Daily, on the job transporting alpacas, has been described as the “perfect vehicle”.
Sure, the Precision Alpaca Group’s Iveco Daily has had some modifications.
Owner Con, who has an engineering background, has made some tweaks, including:
- Higher ratio diff
- Selectable locking diff
- Rear airbag suspension
- Seating for up to 6 people
- Rear air-conditioning
- Internal camera system
“Our maiden voyage in the van was to an alpaca show in Moss Vale, New South Wales, we took six alpacas and five people.
“The new Daily is so quiet, particularly for a van, there’s no stress, it’s lovely.”
Power comes from a 205hp engine, mated to an eight-speed auto transmission.
“The van goes great, it’s so comfortable and feels just like driving a car,” says Con.
“We also operate two Japanese cab over trucks and the new Daily rides and handles so much better”
While safety was also a prime consideration for the application.
“The Daily’s long list of safety features was another important consideration; with ABS disc brakes, stability control and four airbags it’s well equipped.”
