Pepsi signs up for 100 Tesla Trucks

Snack food giants commit to at least 100 electric prime-movers

More good news for Elon Musk and Tesla today with confirmation Pepsi has submitted a 100 truck order with the EV manufacturer.

The order is the largest yet for the recently revealed electric truck – surpassing the 40 truck order confirmed last week by brewery giants, Anheuser-Busch.

Pepsi saying it had decided to place a deposit on 100 Tesla Trucks as part of efforts to reduce fuel costs and lower fleet emissions.

The soft drink and snack food giants say they intend to utilize the trucks for shifting loads between manufacturing and distribution centres, as well as direct to retailers.

It’s believed Tesla has now taken around 285 deposits on the new offering.

Reuters has been keeping count, they say more than a dozen companies, including Wal-Mart, fleet operator J.B. Hunt Transport Services, and food service distribution company Sysco Corp have also committed to the electric truck.
