Navistar, parent company of International Trucks, has just flicked the switch on a new Uptime Command Centre at its Illinois headquarters.
Gathering real-time data via the company’s OnCommand telematics system, the centre will work to ensure that the more than 325,000 International Trucks on North American roads are on the job, and not off the road being repaired.
Aimed at improving uptime for owners/operators, the system will warn of any possible issues with the truck before it becomes a more serious issue.
It also provides info on how the repairs should be performed, suggests service centres and works to ensure that the required parts are on hand before the truck even arrives in the service bay.
Michael Cancelliere is the president of Truck and Parts at Navistar, he says it’s all about getting vehicles back on the road as quickly as possible, and no later than 48 hours after diagnosing a problem.
