A recall of thousands of Fuso Canter trucks has been initiated after it was found that a possible fuel hose fault could spark a fire.

The affected vehicles were sold in Australia between the 1st of March 2011 and the 1st of April 2015 and the recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

The recall notice advises that on affected Euro 5 Canter trucks the injector fuel return hose may swell and disconnect if exposed to chemicals from paint, shampoo or grease.

These chemicals may be used during rear body building or washing.

What are the hazards?

If customers continue to use the vehicle while the hoses are in this condition the hose will come adrift from the connector.

This may cause a fuel leak, posing a fire hazard.

What should affected owners do?

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted directly by Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific and are requested to contact an authorised FUSO dealership to arrange for a replacement injector fuel return hose to be fitted.
