Most efficient drivers found
Volvo Trucks say they are delighted with how this year’s Volvo Drivers’ Fuel Challenge panned out.
The annual competition puts Volvo truck drivers head-to-head in a bid to find the most efficient in both on and off-road categories.
Held last weekend at the Mount Cotton Training Centre in Brisbane, the winners were Kerri Connors from Tasmania in the on-road category and Cameron Simpson from Victoria in the off-road category.
Ironically, both Cameron and Kerri drive for fuel distribution businesses!
“Both drivers can be extremely proud of their achievement,” said Mitch Peden, Vice President of Volvo Trucks Australia.
“Out of the 9 drivers in the final, Kerri completed the challenging on-road course using 7.8% less fuel than the least efficient driver in this year’s final,”
“In a real-world scenario, that equates to massive savings for operators.”
Interestingly, both Kerri and Cameron have also previously received Volvo product training.
“This shows how much of an advantage operators can get with some driver training.” said Mitch.
“Fuel-efficient drivers are also safer drivers, because they’re paying that much more attention to what they’re doing out there on the road.”
Both Kerri and Cameron will represent Australia in the final in Sweden in September.
