Maxion Wheels has announced its going to make a play for a slice of the aluminium truck wheel market.
The wheel manufacturer has made its name producing steel truck wheels and has a history producing alloy wheels for light vehicles as well.
But Maxion Wheels president (Americas) Donald Polk, says the company sees big opportunities in the truck market with their new light-weight alloy truck wheels.
Speaking at the Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week event in Las Vegas, Mr Polk said the wheels would initially be offered as an aftermarket product, but added that the company is in discussions with truck manufacturers as well.
“We are seeing a movement in the market to more applications using aluminium wheels either for appearance reasons or because of their lighter weight,”
“By adding forged aluminium to our product mix, our steel wheel commercial vehicle customers now have a one-stop alternative for their wheel needs.”
