Toyota Coaster Windscreen Wiper Recall

More than 2,000 Toyota Coaster Buses recalled

A recall of the Toyota Coaster Bus has been initiated after a potential issue with the windscreen wiper switch was identified.

Affecting HZB50 and BB50 versions of the Toyota Coaster, the recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

The ACCC recall notice advising that the frequent operation of the intermittent wiper circuit may cause the relay contact points to separate from the contact arm, resulting in an electrical short circuit and the wipers being inoperative.

What are the hazards?

In the worst case scenario, there is a possibility of smoke emission from the front windscreen wiper switch assembly.

The ACCC says affected owners should avoid using the intermittent wiper function until the recall action is complete.

All vehicles affected by the recall will have the front wiper switch replaced with an improved one.
