The transmission, commonly found in a range of different trucks in Australia, was designed for applications such as refuse collection, construction, fire and emergency, local distribution, and coach and motorhomes.

It has taken 24 years for the transmission to reach the half million mark, the first 4000 Series transmission dates back to 1993.

Today, the transmission is produced in both Indianapolis and Hungary.

In confirming the production milestone, Allison Transmission said the Continuous Power Technology utilised in their auto transmissions has been a game changer for the industry.

They say this tech has helped fleets experience better productivity, fuel economy, comfort, safety and operational flexibility than those with manual and automated manual transmissions (AMTs).
